Seriously I must have been living under a rock to not hear about this sooner, my Chuggington radar definitely needs looking at! So whats all this I hear you ask about Interactive Chuggington?

Well then the other day I was having a look round the big sites to see what was new in the world of Chuggington and bam I hit a gold mine that for some reason I had totally missed until now, maybe its because they have only just come out? Well anyway enough of my babbling, let me tell you the good news, the Chuggington Die-cast Toys are not the only Chugtoys on the block, they have been joined by a new older brother welcome to the future and the future is the new range of Learning Curve Chuggington Interactive Toys!

So what makes Chuggington Interactive so good? Well the trains interact with each other and talk to each other just like in the TV show, they will also interact depending on where they are on the track, say they get to the quarry, they will know they are at the quarry! Cool hey?

We have the full range of diecast track and trains – I wonder if this track is compatible with the die cast track?

My only worry with the interactive is that it might stop the children using their imaginations – my 3 year old makes up stories and does dialogue for his chuggers and his Thomas trains.

  • Chugtoys

Hi Niki, that thought occurred to me as well but I imagaine you can switch them off so they don’t talk ;)

I don’t think they are compatible with the Die-cast stuff, mainly because the Interactive Trains are bigger.

ABOUT WHEN WILL INTERACTIVE TRAINS ARRIVE IN THE US???? MY GRANDSON LOVES TO WATCH THE DISNEY CHANNEL CHUGGINGTON SHOW….

  • Chugtoys

Hi Rick, I’m not sure, but I’ll keep my eye out and as soon as I hear anything I’ll let you know

  • Ryan’s Mommy

My son loves Chuggington and I thought the interactive set would make a great Christmas present. I found a store in the UK that sells the interactive playsets/engines and that ships internationally. I was all set or so I thought…. Silly Me!!! The interactive trains sold in other countries (I am in the USA) have a different accent. Not a big deal, but in the USA, Chuggington has an American accent not a British accent. Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait until they release the interactive set in the States. For now I purchased the Ultimate Chugger Pack which should be fantastic as well – just no talking trains. Please keep us posted on USA releases! :)

  • Mum

Sooo excited! – but are these new interactive trains etc compatible with wooden railway tracks (e.g. Brio) ?????????? Hope so, we’ve been waiting long enough!

  • Lu

I too just discovered the interactive addition to the Chuggington collection…..I love them and am anxious to get some for my grandson for his birthday this month!! I must admit….I have two disappointments, I was told the original pieces are not compatible with the interactive pieces. I understand that the original ones don’t talk, but they would still be nice to connect for additional interesting components…..Is my information correct? Do the tracks not connect, & do the other stations not connect…..& can the cars not ride the same tracks?…..I am just wanting to get my grandson started, but I don’t want to buy parts that won’t connect to future sets…..The US doesn’t offer the new interactive pieces yet…..I can only get the original pieces or order from Britain sites that are quite a bit more costly due to the inflated International pricing & Shipping costs……Ughh!! Confused & disappointed Grandma….

  • Lu

I’m in the U.S. too…..the Disney Channel does seem to have a British accent on that program doesn’t it?…..I was going to order from Britain for my Grandson’s birthday this month…..now I don’t know…..

  • Lu

They are surely battery opperated, so one could simply take out the batteries if there isn’t an off switch at times when one doesn’t want the sound so the child could play without it. I hate the fact the die cast pieces don’t fit the interactive sets…..I would be really unhappy if I had the full set already…..We are just getting started, so we have the decision to hold off for the interactive pieces…..buy from Britain, or go with the die cast & build up that set…..

  • Lwalsh

Does anyone have both yet?…..I know the size is double on the new interactive set…..& that it is plastic versus the original diecast set that’s half it’s size…..What do you think of the comparison between the two after seeing & playing with it?…..I’m trying to decide which way to go for my grandson’s birthday. Also, if I order from a British company, is it true they will have a British accent & not sound like the character we see on Chuggington in the U.S.?????

  • laalaaandtomtom

did anyone buy one of these? I got mine today and my word it was hard work putting it toghetrer and to be honest if it hadn’t been reduced down to £40 in toys r us and had a credit not i wouldn’t have bothered. Its cheap and nasty and my rather heavy handed 2 year old (ok ok i know it’s supposed to be 3plus) keeps destroying parts! Not very impressed at all and as for the noises OMG they’re SOOO annoying so much so that it lasted just 2 hours in our living room before being moved to his bedroom where it’ll be disabled at night. Is amusing when they all start singing chuggington together (we have wilson, brewster, action chugger and harrison) but so irritating all the noises… he adores it though!

  • Laura_large

mines been using his one he got today with his dyecast ones so don’t see why not – they tend to fall over on the whizzy bridge thing but apart from that work fine xx

  • Laura_large

Toms had his now for about a month and i’ve been talking to head office as it just falls apart constantly – the struts aren’t stable enough to keep the elevated section held up and the curved sections seem to come apart easily. Highly disappointed and have rebuilt it as a flat track which was a waste of money as i could have bought a starter kit. The trains are really irritating too but amusing when they all start singing “chuggington” in unison!

  • Tabitha x

Very disappointed in the quality of the track it does not fit together easily and I’d not as good quality as the Thomas one by Trackmaster.
Also wish that the chuggers were not push along if they drove on the track themselves it would get 4 out of 5 stars instead I’m loathed to give it 2 stars.
Ona positive note the chuggers talking to each other is brilliant. Shame the rest is a let down!

  • Lordora

Are there reviews in regards to how actual children do or do not like the set. I appreciate the enthusiasm of this ‘adult’, but I would be more impressed if there was input by children

  • http://www.chugtoys.com Chugtoys

    Hi Lordora

I’m not really sure what to say, I don’t really know any 3-4 year olds who can write a review….

I bought the set with Brewster, the chug wash and the quarry depot for my (nearly) 3 year old.
I LOVED hearing “Oh its Chuggas!” with such glee in his voice when he tore open the wrapping paper. His brother and I promptly went to work setting it up on the loungeroom floor (big set!) for him. He started playing and hasn’t stopped. It has. Even since been moved into his room, and a quick play with Chuggibgton is the last thing he does at night and the first thing he does in the morning.

I think it is wonderful that in this day and age where everything is displayed and lightning fast this toy can hold his attention for so long (4 hours and counting today alone) and exercise his imagination.
I highly recommend this toy if your kid is a fan of Chuggas. I’ll buy more sets to add together fog ether once I find the required space.
