So a few weeks ago I spent about 30-45 mins making a model of Wilson from Chuggington for my Son. It came as a freebie on the front of his Chuggington Magazine and as he is only 20 Months old it was a little bit beyond his construction skills!
Now I'm fairly adept at model building but this Wilson Model was one seriously fiddly time sapper! It was hard enough to keep it out of his view while I was building it because I knew he would instantly want to play with it the moment he saw it! So after what felt like hours of careful poking, easing and balancing I had manage to work out where all the bits went and got them all stick ( sort of ) together and in hindsight I should have glued it....
I had a bad feeling that all my hard work building this Chuggington Wilson model was going to be in vain though, I had a feeling it was going to last.. oooo about 30 seconds.
Unfortunately I was right

With a big smile on mine and my Son's face he finally gets his hands on his very own Chuggington Toy!! A Build your own Wilson Model.

Bless him he gets straight down to some intense playing, but Wilson seems to have already lost a bit...

Here he is happily inspecting his new Wilson Toy ( well I say toy... )

Ooops... Wilson is looking a bit ermmm

Terminal damage!

And that's it this is one deceased chugger
Certainly no Riding the rails from this Wilson anymore!
So there you have it if there was one thing I could criticize the generally excellent Chuggington Magazine it would be the slightly cheapish extras and toys on the front of the mag. I appreciate the Chuggington Magazine isn't all that expensive and the the content of the magazine is very good but yes I've been a bit disappointed with the quality of some of the "freebies", the binoculars were good and still get played with. The pinball game lasted all of 10 mins and the back fell off, not good given the very small balls... and the Build your own Chuggington Wilson although hard to make and short lived did give my son a few sort minutes of happy playing, but surely it could have been made of a better material? I don't know many under 6 year olds who could have built that model, I found it handwork.
I will still be buying the magazine though regardless of my criticisms as I feel my Son gets enough enjoyment out of it.
